Are we a good fit for you? – The Naperville Integrated Wellness Difference

Read this to find out…

Many people contact our office every day with many questions about functional medicine and our office. If you are interested in working with a functional medicine doctor, but do not know which clinic is a good fit for your personality and needs, then read this blog. This will walk you through the steps of your functional medicine experience in our office and will answer many questions you probably have. We keep looking for new ways to explain what we do here and how we do it. The information provided here and can help you make better choices about the kind of doctor and functional medicine facility you want to work with.

We call our process the Naperville Integrated Wellness Difference because no two clinics are the same and we have developed what we believe to be the most straightforward and effective way to provide the best care we can for our patients. In functional medicine you cannot use a cookie-cutter approach to patient care, nor can you provide that care in a cookie cutter model.

Here are the steps of our system…

After you and Lisa talk, the both of you will decide if you should take the next step and meet with me (Dr. Sexton) for a consultation. To hold your appointment with Dr. Sexton, Lisa will require a non-refundable $100 deposit which will be applied toward your doctor consultation. We require this because I block off an hour of my time to meet with new patients and I don’t have many openings available. The bottom line is this…if I block off an hour of my day, I expect people to respect my time and demonstrate enough personal integrity to show up for the visit they have requested.  We have found this system to work very well and since the deposit is applied toward your office visit, it is not an additional cost to you.

As a functional medicine doctor, I need to discover what systems are out of balance in your body and correct them. I never want to “guess” or “assume” what is causing your health problems. I don’t want to assume you need probiotics, digestive enzymes, certain vitamins, have a gluten intolerance, suffer with a leaky gut; etc. I collect objective, factual data about what is happening in your body to make testing and treatment decisions. I am a believer in testing, whenever possible, before recommending treatments. If you feel, the same way, then we will be a good fit. In most cases, the Foundation Testing costs under $400 and like I have said, it is much more detailed and informative than the kinds of blood tests most people receive from their doctor.

We are all incredibly unique individuals. We have different genetics, live in different environments, eat different diets, lead vastly different lives and experience our own types and degrees of stress. You are not like anyone else on the planet. This is why we need to collect information about you, your body and how it is functioning. We then use this data to create a plan to help you restore function to your body, regain your health and experience a higher quality of life.

Does this take work? Does this require you to make changes and make different lifestyle choices? Of course, it does. We reap what we sow. If you want to experience better health, you need to start doing things differently. We are here to help you do just that.

The purpose of functional medicine is:

Understanding how the body works, knowing how and where to investigate health issues, knowing what to look for, understanding the significance of what is found and creating a plan of action to reverse and correct the root cause the health problems.

My wish for you…health, happiness and a better quality of life!
